An Open Letter to Eastside Leadership A public letter, sent to Eastside mayors and councilmembers on 5/15/2026, calling for urgent action, accountability, and support for queer and trans communities in the face of escalating violence, dehumanization, and fear across King County. Hello Mayor and Councilmembers, I’m writing this with a pretty shattered heart. You may already know about Juniper Blessing, the transgender teenager who was fatally stabbed 40 times in a laundromat near UW earlier this week. The suspect later turned himself in to the Bellevue Police Department at the advice of his family, Bellevue residents.
