Trans & Nonbinary Swim Meet

Pride Across the Bridge works hard to provide inclusive and affirming spaces for transgender and nonbinary individuals to come together, celebrate their identities, and enjoy the camaraderie and joys of swimming, that may be taken for granted by many in our community. We know the hurdles many in our trans and nonbinary community face, and whether it’s body dysphoria, or self-conscious body image keeping you from the water, join your community who understands and live out your aquatic dream! We offer a supportive environment where everyone can feel welcomed and respected, regardless of their gender identity or expression. Our events are designed to foster a sense of community, belonging, and joy, allowing participants to connect with like-minded individuals, share experiences, and build lasting friendships. :)

We are a volunteer-driven organization committed to promoting the well-being and visibility of the trans and nonbinary community through engaging and accessible events. Our team is comprised of passionate individuals dedicated to creating positive change and celebrating diversity. Whether you’re a seasoned swimmer or dipping your toes in the water for the first time, Pride Across the Bridge welcomes you to join us in making waves and embracing the beauty of our shared journey.

This space is facilitated by the incredible Jenn Hernandez!

Accessibility~

Access to the pool building has a ramp and there are ladders in the shallow and deep end of the pool. Portable stars for both the shallow and deep end can also be put in. The facility has one mobility chair, located in the shallow end only, and is operated by the lifeguards. There are women’s and men’s locker rooms, each with ADA-accessible facilities, as well as two single-family bathrooms that are ADA-accessible and have their own showers. Wave Aquatics shares people are encouraged to use the locker rooms of the gender they identify.

Finances~

Being a volunteer-run org, we strive to remove barriers for our community to get the care and connection we know they deserve (yes we’re talking about you)! While we do have sliding scale ticket pricing for this event, PLEASE let us know if you want to attend and didn’t snag a more affordable ticket. There are costs to put on events (venue rental, insurance, food/drinks, yada yada) but finances should never be the barrier between you and connecting with your community- especially when it comes to something as fun as water! Hit us up with an email at info@prideacrossthebridge.org. We got you. :)

Guidelines~

In our swim meetups, inclusivity and respect are paramount. We operate under a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination, harassment, or hate speech based on gender identity, sexual orientation, race, or any other discrimination against human beings. We ask all participants to respect each other’s pronouns and to contribute to a positive and supportive atmosphere. Privacy and personal boundaries are to be respected at all times.

No personal photography will be allowed to maintain a safe environment for everyone’s comfort. There will be opportunities for photos taken at the end of our Aquatic Odyssey by a pool staff member.

For the safety and comfort of all attendees, participants under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult guardian. Lifeguards will be on duty to assist with any emergencies, and adherence to pool rules and guidelines is mandatory. We encourage community engagement and invite everyone to stay informed about our events, announcements, and community news by signing up for our newsletter on our website or following us on social media @prideacrossthebridge. We strive to make our events accessible to all, and accommodations can be arranged upon request.
